Is that round tower one of those big WW2 concrete bunker things, or something else? I went inside a big square bunker thingy in Vienna to see an art exhibition, and they are so creepy! At any moment I expected blood drenched zombies to start crawling out of the dark corridors towards me.

Flak tower! That's the word I was looking for - not bunker thing.
I think I went in the Arenbergpark one, but I'm only guessing based on my hazy memory and google images.

They are amazing buildings - old and sad yet imposing and defiant. They were one of my favourite things about Vienna (after Hundertwasser of course).

yes, t is one of the Flak-Towers, the one in Augarten. And thanks for the hint - I wasn't aware about the one in Arenbergpark (and actually never was in Arenbergpark...). There is one that contains the "Aqua Terra Zoo" and a "Torture Museum"... which is also used as a climbing wall during the warmer months. Which leads me to a thought about... hm... picutres soon !
And I really had to laugh about the combination of Hundertwasser and this relicts from WW2. True: they are very impressive and sad, even with the graffiti and stuff. But good at the same time that they keep it as a memorial sight.

And thanks for the supporting comments - this really means a lot to me. A real boost ! Thanks so very much and until soon. Oh, and all the best and greetings to Edna and Walter...

a sincere fan

That's what I loved about Vienna - it is a city of contrast, but it all fits together perfectly.
